Ways of Giving

All gifts are used to help defray the costs of the programs and services provided by the Foundation and are generally tax deductible. You will receive an acknowledgement letter for your tax records. If your company has a matching gift program your gift can be doubled in value. Also, remember that you may give a restricted gift meaning that it is designated to a specific program area. A condensed list of these specific funds may be found under making a difference and current campaigns.

Cash

Cash, checks made payable to Walton Foundation for Independence, or major credit cards

Pledge

A pledge permits you to pay specified installments over a period of two to five years through either cash or securities. Pledge payments are generally deductible in the year in which they are made.

Stocks and Bonds

Consider a gift of stock, mutual funds or bonds that may have appreciated in value if you have owned it for more than one year. You may be able to take an income tax deduction for your gift and avoid capital gains taxes at the same time. A gift of an appreciated asset such as stocks or bonds can be as easy as calling your broker.

Bequests

The most common and easiest form of planned giving, a bequest, is a gift made through a will or living trust. A gift of cash, assets or property is an opportunity to make a significant legacy to Walton Foundation for Independence. You may designate an asset, a specific dollar amount or a percent of your residual estate in your will to be given to Walton Foundation.

Memorial and Honorarium Gifts

A gift honoring the memory of a loved one, or in recognition of a family member, a friend or a business associate is an appropriate expression at any time of the year or for any occasion. Gifts expressing sympathy, honoring a birthday, anniversary, promotion, or retirement are excellent alternatives to traditional giving. We will send an acknowledgement card to those you have named, and you will receive a letter confirming your gift. The acknowledgement card will not include the amount of your gift. Any type of gift (cash, stock, bond.) may be used as a memorial or honorary gift.

Online Giving

Online giving is available. Donors can submit their credit card gifts to Walton Foundation for Independence by way of a secure server; you may designate your contribution to a particular program or funding opportunities.
