G.O.A.L.L.S : Blaze Sports Club of Augusta
The Walton Sports and Leisure programs consist of G.O.A.L.L.S. (Going Over and Above Life’s Limitations Successfully!) and Blaze Sports programs. Each program is specifically designed to enhance the quality of life for individuals of all ages with different abilities and offer the opportunity to get back into various activities with and without adaptation.
Camp TBI, one of the first G.O.A.L.L.S.' projects, is an overnight summer camp designed to give children with an acquired brain injury a chance to experience a safe camping experience. Camp TBI is held up at Camp Twin Lakes in Rutledge, GA (www.camptwinlakes.org) and is a fully accessible camp for children with special needs.
Camp TBI will be held July 8-13th, 2007 and will include activities to increase independence in activities of daily living, social skills, and memory skills along with just having a great time in a safe environment. Campers will enjoy swimming, fishing, horseback riding, nature games, a ropes course, miniature golf and much, much more!
Criteria for attending Camp TBI: Ages 8-18 (or to 21 if still in school). Must have an acquired brain injury, for example, disability may have resulted from stroke, tumor trauma, or encephalopathy. Camper should be able to participate in camp activities at some level and assist with self cares.
