Undercover ArtistMany thanks to our contributing artists, sponsors, and attendees. Through this generosity, $20,000 was raised for Walton’s Campaign for Private Rooms! Each year, Walton supports Georgia Artists with Disabilities by hosting their traveling exhibit for one month; this year taking place on April 5 through 28. This art exhibit features the 2005-2006 winning pieces from the Georgia Artists with Disabilities juried show held in Atlanta. The Georgia Artists with Disabilities mission is to provide mediums through which Georgia artists with disabilities can display their artistic accomplishments in all disciplines of the arts. Exhibits include acrylic, watercolor, oil, pencil, photography, and wall hangings. Many of the pieces will be available for sale to benefit the artists. The exhibit is open to the public and is free of charge. In order to bring more local focus to the Georgia Artists with Disabilities show, Walton Foundation is adding another dimension. On April 12th, the first annual “Undercover Artists Show” will be held on the front lawn of Walton Rehabilitation Hospital. This exciting, springtime event will be a catered affair with delicious food by Very Vera, wines, music, and even more art! Local artists and local celebrities have been asked to produce original canvasses in the medium of their choice to be auctioned. As the bidding begins, all artists signatures will be “undercover” and only later in the evening will their names by revealed. Bidding will continue for a short time thereafter. It will be great fun to rediscover Augusta’s favorite artists while discovering the undercover artists among us! Proceeds from ticket sales and the local art auction will benefit Walton Foundation’s campaign for private rooms. Naturally, we at Walton are excited about this first-time event and hope to make it a long-lasting tradition in the Augusta community.
